LIFECYCLE MANAGEMENT

Component Harvesting

When a unit is past economical repair, the parts inside often aren’t. CSAT Solutions strategically tears down end-of-life and non-viable devices to recover working boards, panels, drives, and modules — feeding spares pools, supporting future repairs, and keeping working components out of landfills.

OUR APPROACH

Parts That Still Have a Job To Do

CSAT was founded in 1992 as a motherboard repair company — component-level work has been in our DNA from day one.

Today, harvesting is the bridge between our repair operations and our clients’ lifecycle programs: parts pulled from one unit go on to keep dozens of other units running. From our Houston facility, technicians identify, extract, test, grade, and return working components into circulation — supporting both client-owned spares pools and CSAT’s own repair inventory.

THE ROUTING DECISION

When to Harvest

Harvesting sits between full refurbishment and recycling — chosen on diagnostics, demand, and economics.

01 — REFURBISH

Refurbish

If diagnostics and economics support repair, the unit stays whole and goes through asset recovery.

02 — HARVEST

Harvest

If a unit is beyond economical repair but contains working subassemblies, we extract components that re-enter the supply chain.

03 — RECYCLE

Recycle

When residual value has been recovered, what’s left goes to certified, responsibly-managed downstream recyclers.

WHAT WE HARVEST

Components We Recover and Return to Circulation

If a component has functional life left and supply-chain demand, we pull it.

Logic & Main Boards

Working motherboards and logic boards recovered for repair builds and spares.

LCD & Display Panels

Functioning panels harvested for display refurbishment and replacement programs.

Power Supplies

PSUs and DC-DC modules recovered and tested for use in future repair work.

Drives & Storage

HDDs and SSDs harvested only after secure data wipe — then screened and graded for reuse.

Memory, I/O & Comms Modules

RAM, NICs, WLAN cards, and I/O daughterboards extracted and inventoried by part number.

Mechanical Assemblies

Hinges, bezels, keyboards, batteries, fans, and chassis components recovered where they hold value.

THE HARVEST FLOW

How a Unit Becomes a Spares Pool

Four controlled stages, with serialized records connecting source units to recovered parts.

01 — IDENTIFY

Identify

Each candidate unit is logged by serial, then assessed for which components are worth recovering based on diagnostic state and demand.

02 — DISASSEMBLE

Disassemble

Trained technicians extract components without damaging the parts being recovered — manual, controlled tear-down, not bulk shredding.

03 — TEST

Test & Grade

Recovered components are functionally tested and graded so only known-good parts re-enter inventory.

04 — RETURN

Return-to-Stock

Harvested parts are inventoried by part number and routed to the client’s spares pool, CSAT’s repair inventory, or both.

WHY CSAT

Why CSAT for Component Harvesting

Component-Level Roots

Motherboard-level repair has been our core competency since 1992. We know which parts are worth recovering, and how.

Tested Before Reuse

Every harvested component is functionally tested and graded before going back into inventory — no untested parts in the supply chain.

Data-Safe

Drives and data-bearing modules go through secure wipe or destruction before harvesting decisions are made.

Serialized End to End

Source units and recovered components are tracked, so you can see exactly what was pulled, tested, and returned.

CONNECTED SERVICES

Part of the Full Lifecycle Program

Asset Recovery

Units that justify full refurbishment go through asset recovery instead of harvesting.

Inventory Optimization

Harvested parts feed right-sized spares pools that support ongoing repair operations.

End-of-Life & Circular Services

Refurbish / harvest / recycle decisioning under one circular program.

CIRCULAR BY DESIGN

Working Parts, Working Twice

A lot of those repairs are powered by parts we harvested ourselves. Reusing working components reduces dependency on new parts, lowers cost per repair, and keeps thousands of pieces of working electronics out of waste streams every day.

5,300+
notebooks refurbished daily

Many of them powered by components harvested from units that had given their first life of service.

Pull More Value Out of Your End-of-Life Inventory

Tell us what’s coming off-lease, what’s getting RMA’d back, or what’s sitting in your end-of-life pile. We’ll show you what’s worth recovering — and route the rest responsibly.
